I am Monika Mittal, a Counselling Psychologist with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. My clinical training and professional experiences have provided me with exposure to working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating emotional, behavioural, interpersonal, developmental, and psychological challenges. My areas of interest include anxiety and stress management, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationship concerns, adjustment difficulties, academic and work-related stress, and personal growth. I also have experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning difficulties, supporting their emotional, behavioural, and social development. Across mental health and educational settings, I have gained experience in case history taking, Mental Status Examination (MSE), psychological and psychometric assessments, behavioural observation, counselling, and emotional and behavioural support. I believe in creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where individuals feel heard, respected, and comfortable exploring their experiences. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual's needs, strengths, and goals, with a focus on building self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and healthier coping strategies. I also value psychoeducation and collaboration with families, caregivers, and educators in promoting psychological well-being.
I believe therapy is not about fixing someone or changing who they are, but about creating a safe space where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. It is an opportunity to explore one's experiences, gain self-awareness, and discover healthier ways of navigating life's challenges. I believe every individual has unique needs and strengths, which is why therapy should be collaborative, empathetic, and tailored to the person. For me, it is about looking beyond the immediate concern, approaching each individual without judgment, and supporting them in their journey towards emotional well-being and personal growth.
My interest in psychology comes from a curiosity about human emotions, behaviour, and the unique experiences that shape each individual. I find it meaningful to understand the stories behind people's struggles and recognise how differently we all perceive and navigate the world. Psychology allows me to combine this curiosity with my desire to support others, making it a continuous journey of learning, understanding, and helping individuals discover their strengths and potential for growth.
