Ghaziabad | March 2026
In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across the National Capital Region, a 42-year-old podcaster and astrologer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 13th floor of a residential building in Ghaziabad. What initially appeared to be a case of suicide soon took a darker turn when police discovered the lifeless body of his elderly mother inside their apartment, raising several unanswered questions.
The incident occurred in the Mahagunpuram society located in the Kavi Nagar area. According to police officials, the deceased, identified as Rajveer (name as per reports), climbed to the 13th floor of Vinayak Tower and jumped, resulting in his immediate death. Residents of the society reported hearing a loud noise, following which security personnel rushed to the spot and informed the police.
As the police began their investigation, they proceeded to check the deceased’s residence—a ground-floor flat in the same society. Upon entering the apartment, officials were confronted with a chilling scene. Rajveer’s 70-year-old mother was found lying dead on a bed.
Initial observations suggested that her death may have occurred nearly two days before the incident. Police have since ruled out any signs of foul play, stating that there were no visible injury marks on the mother’s body. However, the exact cause of her death is still awaited and will be confirmed through the post-mortem report. Investigators also revealed that Rajveer had been living in the flat with his mother’s body for nearly two days before taking the extreme step. This has left investigators puzzled, as they attempt to determine whether the two deaths are directly linked or coincidental.
Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials have stated that the reports will play a crucial role in establishing the exact cause and timeline of the deaths.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Rajveer had been facing financial difficulties over the past few months. He was reportedly working as an astrologer and had also ventured into podcasting, but sources suggest that his professional life had not been stable recently.
Police sources and local residents revealed that he had not been actively working for some time, which may have contributed to financial strain. Additionally, he was reportedly living separately from his wife, pointing towards possible personal and emotional challenges.
Experts often highlight that a combination of financial instability, professional uncertainty, and strained personal relationships can significantly impact mental health. In this case, investigators believe these factors may have played a role, although no official conclusion has been drawn yet.
Further revelations have indicated that Rajveer was under significant financial pressure, with an estimated debt of around ₹15–16 lakh. He was also reportedly dealing with complex personal circumstances, including separation from his wife and limited involvement in family responsibilities over the past few months. Police sources have additionally pointed to an alleged relationship with a woman from Haryana, which may have contributed to emotional stress.
The absence of a suicide note has made the case more mysterious, as police found no message explaining Rajveer’s actions. CCTV footage shows he used the stairs instead of the lift, possibly to avoid cameras, suggesting the act may have been planned. However, without clear evidence, all angles are still being investigated.
Meanwhile, residents of Mahagunpuram society are in shock. Neighbours described him as quiet and reserved, though some noticed he seemed stressed recently. The incident has left the community disturbed and raised concerns about unnoticed mental health struggles.
Police officials have launched a detailed investigation into the incident and are examining all possible angles. CCTV footage from the society is being reviewed, while call records and digital devices of the deceased are also being analysed.
Authorities are also awaiting the post-mortem reports of both the deceased and his mother to establish the exact cause and sequence of events. Statements of neighbours and relatives are being recorded to understand his mental state and recent activities.
Officials have stated that further action will be taken based on forensic findings, and no possibility has been ruled out at this stage.
This incident has once again highlighted the growing issue of mental health struggles, especially among individuals dealing with financial pressure, personal isolation, and unstable careers. In many cases, people facing such challenges may not openly express their distress, making it difficult for others to recognize the warning signs.
In today’s time, professionals working independently—such as freelancers, content creators, and consultants—often deal with unique pressures that can impact their mental well-being:
Irregular income and financial stress can create constant anxiety about stability and future security.
Lack of a strong support system often leads to feelings of loneliness and emotional isolation.
Work-life imbalance can increase mental exhaustion, especially when personal and professional stress overlap.
Social stigma around mental health discourages many individuals from seeking help or even discussing their struggles.
Experts stress that early recognition of stress, anxiety, or depression is crucial. Open conversations with family or friends, along with timely professional support, can help prevent situations from escalating. However, due to lack of awareness and hesitation, many people continue to suffer silently, which remains a major concern.
